Weight loss surgery is increasingly common and recognized as a highly effective treatment for morbid obesity. Many major insurance companies offer full or partial coverage for surgery. Your primary care physician will typically obtain insurance authorization for the initial consultation. If you are self-referred, we will call on your behalf to obtain the initial visit authorization.

However, in 2009, insurance related work can be a daunting and a challenging task for the patient especially when it comes to getting answers regarding coverage of bariatric related procedures or studies.  We understand these challenges and our team of experts will work with you and your insurance company to approve you for preoperative tests and ultimately for surgery.

Even if your insurance does not cover the procedure, we encourage you not give up on what maybe a medically necessary and life changing procedure. Please talk to us about a number of self-payment and financing options that are available through Sutter Medical Center and our lending partners.
