One of the most exciting evolutionary steps in minimally invasive techniques has been the NO SCAR or Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS). The surgery is performed through the patient's umbilicus using cutting edge articulating instruments and multi-port devices. When completed, the only incision is hidden within the belly button, giving a virtually "no scar" result. Aside from significantly improved cosmetic results compared with the standard multiple incision laparoscopic technique, SILS potentially decreases postoperative pain and speeds up recovery.

While more challenging technically, Dr. Grinberg is the pioneer in this field and has been the first surgeon in Sutter System to perfom such a procedure. Although not indicated for all patients, this leading edge technique is currently imployed for common surgical problems like gallbladder disease, apendicitis and potentially many other ailments.
